Welcome to Zorba's Fine Greek Cuisine, established in 2010 by the previous owners of the very popular OLYMPIA CAFE, Spiros & Marina Counelis. For over 20 years, firmly entrenched in the UNM area, it won awards year after year, but time came for a change. With a new location, updated menu and their children, Gregory & Madeleine, a new chapter commences in the Northeast Heights.

The new look brings a new name; well, sort of. Zorba's is revived from the family’s first restaurant situated on Central and 6th street, which introduced Greek food to New Mexico in 1972. The name originated from the novel, Zorba the Greek, written by the 9 time Pulitzer prize nominated, Greek author and poet, Nikos Kazantzakis, first published in 1946. It is a story of friendship between a young Greek intellectual who attempts to escape his uptight pedantic life and the gregarious, enigmatic Alexis Zorba.
